Unlimited Plan

As you can see, both of these phones utilize the Boost $55 unlimited plan. Boost CDMA coverage is provided by Sprint on both of these excellent devices.

Dimension and Weight

As you can see, the dimensions are very similar, basically they are the same. However, if you look at the weight, you will see that the Kyocera Hydro is noticeably heavier than the Samsung Prevail.

Screen Size

Screen size is probably one of the most important factors when purchasing a new Android device. With this in mind, the Kyocera Hydro has the bigger screen of the two with its 3.5" screen versus the Samsung Prevail's 3.2" screen.

Processor

Processor is one of the single most deciding factor when deciding on a new Smartphone. The clear winner here is the Kyocera because it's got a nice 1ghz processor. The Samsung, on the other hand has a rather slow 800mhz processor. This can be the difference between being able to stream say Netflix or not. For the price difference, the choice is clear and that choice is the Kyocera Hydro..

Digital Camera

The digital camera can be another huge deciding factor. Some people may not really care but if you do, you will see that Kyocera Hydro also comes out on top in this department. Essentially, you get 50% more megapixels which equates to superior image quality.

Conclusion

The conclusion is pretty simple, for an extra $30 the Kyocera gives you a faster processor, larger screen and superior digital camera. Additionally, the Kyocera just has those extra little visual cues that makes it stand out over the Prevail. We particularly like the textured/patterned area just below the Android buttons.
