Unlimited Plan

To put it simply, the Unlimited Plan from Straight Talk and the Unlimited Plan from Net10 are basically identical except for price. Both carriers offer the same exact coverage with these phones. All things being equal, the Straight Talk plan saves you and extra 5 bucks. If nothing else on this list is all that important to you, then the Samsung Precedent is the way to go.

Dimension and Weight

As you can see in the chart above, the Precedent is slightly smaller and slightly lighter. By slightly, we really mean slightly.

Android Operating System

Alot is made and written about Android Operating system versions. Fact is, as far as your average user is concerned, there's very little difference between them. That being said, the Optimus Net actually has one of the newer versions of Android at the time of this writing. In case you are wondering, Android 2.3 has updated themes, modified keyboards, improved copy/paste options, power management improvements, improved application management, Google Maps version 5.1, the latest version of Google Books, and improved voice command features.

Android Below Screen Buttons

By below Screen buttons, we mean the 4 android buttons just below the screen. We like the sleekness on the Precedent as they are of the capacitive touch type. Where on the Optimus Net, they are of the physical push button variety. This one is a personal preference thing. Keep in mind that the capacitive touch type only light up when you touch them and you cant feel them but they do make the phone look way more modern.

Digital Camera

The LG Optimus Net has a slightly better camera with 3.2mp of resolution versus the 2.0mp on the precedent.

The differences between the phones are are too minor to call. On the Optimus Net, you get a newer Android version, though you can easily upgrade the Precedent to the same version. To be honest, most people won't notice much of a difference. The bottom line is that the Precedent saves you 5 bucks a month for as long as you keep the phone active. This adds up to $60 a year and to be honest, the newer OS on the Optimus and slightly better camera are not worth 60 bucks a year as far as we are concerned. Our opinion, go for the savings and get the Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy Precedent.
