LG505c Straight Talk,Tracfone & Net10 Review

The LG505c is a CDMA Touchscreen with slider QWERTY phone offered by Straight Talk, Net10 and Tracfone. A nice little feature phone that has the best of both worlds, touchscreen cool factor and full QWERTY keyboard functionality. If you can't decide between say the LG900 and the LG800, the LG505 marries both!

First Impression

The LG505C combines the best of both worlds in an elegant and smooth package. Featuring a large touch screen and... yes, as if that was not enough, they through in a slide out full QWERTY keyboard. Texting on the go is made simple with the slide out keyboard and you have the ability to also use the screen for typing and entering information. The LG 505c is an extremely functional phone with an Android-like interface and a simple three hard key design. We loved the look and feel and highly recommend it.

Usability

Using the LG 505c was just what we expected and the host of features built in really impressed us. We checked out the slide out keyboard first and really liked the size of each key, it should be good even for those of us with fatter than average thumbs. They keys lay mostly flat but an accidental double keypress is not easy to do which means you should have less texting fumbles. Since the touch screen is resistive, we did notice that you need to apply some pressure to get your point across but nothing to really complain about. This screen even works with your nail or a pen tip (just be careful not to press too hard as you might permanently damage the screen). The icons are large and intuitive so you wont have to wonder where to go for what. Easily send text messages or go on-line with a single press of the screen.

Features

•Touch Screen (easy to use and makes navigation a pleasure)
•Alarm Clock (this is a must. You can use it to wake you up, or remind you of events)
•Phone Book (An obvious one but you can store up to one thousand entries)
•Camera 1.3MP (not the most impressive, but it does take decent photos)
•Games (you have access to several popular games *charges apply)
•Text/Picture Messaging (send your pictures with a few clicks)
•Handsfree Speaker (The sound quality is great and makes driving worry free)
•Ringtones (Like games, you can choose from lots of ringtones)
•Vibration Alert (great for when you dont want to disturb others)
•Voice Command (Make calls without even pressing a key using your voice)
•Mobile Web (The web is at your fingertips)

Conclusion

The LG 505C from NET10 is hands down at the top of the list of non smartphones and if you like to have a slide out keypad plus a touch screen, this is the one phone you need. We liked everything about it and could not find much wrong with it other than the somewhat bulky feel but that is subjective. Overall, the LG505c is a good value and it is packed with features and has the basics covered.
